                                                Cobalt-60

Co-60
Mass # = 60
# of Protons = 60
# of Electrons = 60
# of Neutrons = 33

Cobalt-60 is used for sterilization of spices and certain foods. It kills bacteria without damaging the product. Sometimes called " cold pasteurization".  It is also used as an x-ray to detect structural flaws in metal parts. Specifically used as a radiation therapy source.
A device used to treat blood vessels and brain tumors.

Cobalt-60 is a hard gray metal with a bluish tint. Under normal conditions is a solid. It is also a byproduct of nuclear reactor operations when metal is  exposed to neutron radiation. Co-60 is encased in metal containers due to how severe the damage to a person can be if too much radiation is encountered. Decays by beta particles and gamma radiation.
